This week's New Yorker magazine has a story by John Seabrook about
British colonel Richard Meinertzhagen (1878-1967) who was an amateur
ornithologist and apparently a fraud! The article goes into the detective
work done by Pamela Rasmussen (senior author of the Birds of South Asia:
The Ripley Guide) to uncover this fraud by Meinertzhagen. Also mentioned
in this article is a forthcoming book by Brian Garfield about the
"colorful" life of this man. See:
