Hi all,

I went up to Spencer Island (near Everett WA just East of I-5 in the Snohomish River basin) with Kris Baker yesterday Monday & we experienced a typically birdy spring day there with Black-headed Grosbeaks, Yellow Warblers, Willow Flycatchers, Swainson?s Thrush, Cedar Waxwings, Towhees, Tree Barn & Cliff Swallows, American Goldfinches, Song Sparrows & Robins out in force.

We missed a Red Breasted Sapsucker but we?re pretty sure of it.

Here?s the list in order seen:

Bullock?s Oriole (fighting with a House Finch by the Langus Park restrooms)
House Finch
Black-headed Cowbird
Black-capped Chickadee
Cliff Swallow
Barn Swallow
Marsh Wren
Red-winged Blackbird
American Crow
Tree Swallow
Common Yellow-throat
Cedar Waxwing
Song Sparrow
Mallard
Cinnamon Teal (just one)
Killdeer
American Goldfinch
Mourning Dove
Black-headed Grosbeak
Downy Woodpecker
Yellow Warbler
Great Blue Heron
Pileated Woodpecker
Willow Flycatcher
Spotted Towhee
Wilson?s Warbler
Bald Eagle
Swainson?s Thrush
Bewick?s Wren
American Robin
Vaux?s Swift
Red-tailed Hawk
Purple Finch (2)
Glaucous-winged Gull
Yellow-rumped Warbler (two singing)
Gadwall
Northern Harrier (one adult male)
Purple Martin (1 overhead)
LAZULI BUNTING (1 male at north end) (never saw one at Spencer before)
Violet-green Swallow
Rufous Hummingbird (maybe three)
Band-tailed Pigeon (1)
Osprey (there?s a nest across the river from the Langus paved walk)
Warbling Vireo (1)
EASTERN KINGBIRDS two together on the north loop just north of the bridge
Northern Flicker
Northern Shoveler
Wood Ducks (5 males)
Double-crested Cormorant
Rock Dove
Spotted Sandpiper (on the Snohomish R)
White-crowned Sparrow

I didn?t get great pictures on this trip, but 3 shots are posted at

Big news in YardBirdRace, as records are getting smashed, tied & put in huge danger?post on its way.

Here at home the migration seems to be winding down yesterday max 3 Wilson?s Warblers at one time bathing in Butyl Creek and a Yellow Warbler, but apparently none today.
