Thank you for your reply! I really appreciate that. I live in Enumclaw
Washington which is about 35 miles southeast of Seattle in the foothills of Mt
Rainier. This must be quite rare then being this far north and I feel quite
priveledged to be able to witness such spectacular beauty in a bird I have
never seen before! I do believe there is nesting pair close by as he does not
fly far and lands in some bushes about 150 yards away. I have not seen the
female and wonder what she looks like. I would assume she is less brightly
colored. Can you help me on that one too? Thanks again! Merrill
