Hello all,
This morning on our walk around Bennington Lake just east of Walla Walla we
(MerryLynn Denny, Ginger Shoemake, Priscilla Dauble and Paul Rossi) were
treated to a very vocal and visual Least Flycatcher on the southeast side of
the lake (across the dam and up the new trail). This is the second county
record - the first was found by Paul Rossi up Biscuit Ridge road a couple
years ago. This was #213 for the county - #212 being a White-faced Ibis at
Tyson ponds reported over the weekend.
A walk around Bennington Lake produces great looks at Yellow-breasted Chat,
Black-headed Grosbeak, Lazuli Bunting, Tree, Cliff, Rough-winged Swallows,
Eastern and Western Kingbirds, and the ever present Yellow Warblers and
House Wrens. Also had an adult Cooper's Hawk - they are nesting somewhere
near Rook's Park.
