My thanks to Paul Hicks and also to Marv Breece. After spending three days
in Okanogan Co last week, in part looking unsuccessfully for a Clay-colored
Sparrow, I was somewhat chagrined to read of one seen practically in my
backyard. So today I packed up the camera and went to find him. As soon as I
arrived at the spot described by Paul I heard him singing. Due to a bad ear
and weak eyes it took about three minutes to locate him on the scotch bloom
right where Marv said he was on Tuesday. He was pretty active except when
one truck went by 10 times looking for an address. I stood pretty much in
one area on the gravel road and he went back and forth from one spot to
another from 9:30 to 11:00. The bird not the truck. When I left he was on
the power line still singing.
