Bad news about the Loons. Makes me feel pretty fortunate to have seen 2 of
them from the Olympic Discovery Trail along the Strait, near Port Angeles,
in mid/late April. Quite close, just off-shore---lovely!

Dear Tweeters,

Today's (May 31) King County Journal has an article "States loon population
plummets", which says that the state's population of loons is nearly gone.
Loss of winter habitat and the widespread use of lead fishing weights in
local waters is blamed for the decline.

I would include a link to the article, but the King County Journal does not
have this article online.
