The following interesting birds have been reported in Spokane County during
the past two weeks.

There have been 4 new year birds, RUSTY BLACKBIRD, SNOW BUNTING,
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, & DUNLIN bringing our group year list to 245. Will
we make 250? We still could get Redpoll, White-winged Scoter & Long-tailed
Duck. Anything else will be very rare. Check out the progress at
http://www.spokaneaudubon.org

On Oct 29 & 30, a DUNLIN was at Peone Prairie Wetland. Another Dunlin was
at Philleo Lake Nov 1.

On Nov 1, a RUSTY BLACKBIRD was photographed at Philleo Lake. This is the
only Rusty Blackbird reported in the county since 1980 (that I know of). It
has not been seen again.

On Nov 2 a SNOW BUNTING was near Spangle.

On Nov 3, a female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was on Hershey Pond near
Chattaroy. It soon left.

Otherwise BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS seemed to arrive Nov 1. If you saw any in
October, I'd like to know.
On Oct 30, a HERRING GULL was at Granite Lake.
On Oct 28, a PINE GROSBEAK was on Tower Mountain.
On Oct 27, 6 AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were along Ladd Road in the West Plains.
On Oct 26, a SURF SCOTER and a PACIFIC LOON were on Granite Lake.
On Oct 21, 70 GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES were on Tower Mountain.
Two BLUE JAYS occasionally visit my place, but are not dependable enough to
chase. Any other Blue Jays in the county?

Good Birding,
