Hi All,
On Saturday I watched one adult and one immature Brown Pelican at Green
Point in Washington Park in Anacortes from about noon until 2 PM. Jim and
Betsy Walker watched the Pelicans and photographed them after that. But they
were not there today when quite a number of birders came for a look.
There have also been 2 im. Sandhill Cranes on private property on Guemes
Island for 4 days through yesterday. Not sure if they are still there today
or not. The property owner is interested to know what subspecies they are.
They seem too small to be Greater. Any guesses. It seems odd that 2 immature
birds are migrating alone. I am speculating that something happened to their
parents which may explain why they are traveling alone and why they are
hanging out rather than migrating. Any other ideas?
Cheers,
Howard Armstrong
