I went out yesterday to be a flood tourist, gawk at the awesome amount of
water and splash around the edges. Not far from Snohomish, at the edge of
the big water several dozens of crows were madly pecking about on the
ground, obviously feeding on something smaller than I could see. They were
far enough away that I could not make out details and I could not imagine
what they were all finding to eat. Then the first bald eagle I have seen
this fall came swooping down and snagged a fairly good-sized fish, probably
a salmon from the flood field. Later I saw several Chinook salmon swimming
along a flooded road and I suspect when the water recedes there will be fish
in trees.
