Folks,

Please mark your calendars to participate in the Lyle Christmas Bird
Count, Sunday, December 17th. Again this year we will be sponsored by
the Columbia Land Trust and Friends of the Columbia Gorge ( so your
$5 National Audubon participation fee will be covered), and Klickiat
Canyon and Columbia Gorge Winery will be providing the wines for our
post count compilation dinner at my home.

The Lyle Christmas Bird Count is noted for being the only count in
Washington with predictable sightings of Acorn Woodpeckers, more
Lewis's Woodpecker observed than any other Count Circle about 50%
over the last 10 years, and one of the few count circles on the east
side of the Cascades in Oregon or Washington with more than 100
species. An example of previous count results can be viewed at
http://community.gorge.net/birding/03lcbc.htm

Of course none of this is possible without participants like you, so
let me know as soon as possible if you will be able to help. My phone
number is 509.637.2736 and my e-mail address is bobhansen at gorge.net

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas Bird Count season.
