You might be interested to know that the GWFG at Edmonds Marsh is a Tule Goose. Note the almost deformed-looking long bill and quite dusky head and neck.

This population breeds in AK and winters in CA's central valley. It at times has been considered a separate race (gambelli) or at times been lumped with the arctic breeding birds in w. Canada that winter in TX (elagasi). The NGS Guide lumps 'em. I don't know on what basis. Most other guides that break these geese into races splits them.

Interestingly, one reference stated that Tule Geese liked to forage on tubers in marshes rather than foraging in lawns and ag fields like Pacific GWFG.

Tule Geese should pass through WA, but are rarely actually detected
