Rotenone was used, last month, at the Potholes to attempt to enhance
Northern Leopard Frog breeding pond productivity by removing undesireable
fish like carp and spiny rays. This is a first, in Washington, and I hope it
proves effective in increasing breeding success/larval survival for the
frogs.

It's my understanding that the use of Rotenone in Washington is fairly
limited and, to my knowledge, there are no applications to waters that
haven't had a past history of "rehabilitation" using this organic compound.
Certainly, with respect to Rotenone, consideration of other, non-fish,
vertebrates has improved steadily in the past 20 years.
