I used to see Tule Geese (Tiaga)every winter in the Sacramento Valley of
California when I was the refuge biologist for the Sacramento National
Wildlife Refuge Complex 1956-60. They usual were in very small groups when
compared with the other White-fronted populations. Also a bit darker and not
as noisy as the former. You're right on Wilson.

I have only seen a "Tule" WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE twice, both times

at the Steigerwald Lake NWR near Washougal, in Clark County. The first

one was an easy identification as it had a blue and white neck band

indicating that it had been banded at Kahiltna Valley, Alaska. They are a

striking bird that stands out in a flock both due to their darker

coloration as well as larger size.
