I added a gallinules gallery to my website this weekend and uploaded several grouse photos that I took in the North Cascades this summer. The grouse that you will see perched in a fir tree in a few of the photos was watching over her young who were foraging in the grass below her. Every once in a while she would let out a tentative call to which the young would respond. It was an interesting sound, and one that my wife found she could immitate quite well. Well enough in fact that the young grouse came out of the grass to take a closer look at her.
