Subject: [Tweeters] Pine Grosbeak at Discovery: YES!

Scott Hoskins and myself arrived at the south parking lot at Discovery
Park at 7:30 and walked north into the "500 area". We soon heard it's
distinct call (purely because it was one neither of us recognized) and
located it at the top of a conifer next to the long stairs that head
down to the visitors center. We were soon joined by Penny Rose, Steve
Pink and Dennis Duffy and relocated presumably the same bird
(greenish/yellow morph female) closer to the south parking lot, where it
called vigorously from atop several conifers. I did not see the it's
russet-colored cohort, which was reported yesterday. The best way to
find it, following Matt Bartels recommendations, is listen for a
two-part call (which was, I think, reminiscent of the call of a Western
Tanager with a little House Finch mixed in) and look at the treetops.

Spoke to Justine Busse who said that a small group of birders also
enjoyed good views of the Tropical Kingbird at Magnuson this morning,
which was actively fly-catching from the same spot (the bushes next to
Sandpoint Way adjacent to the northern most building #11)

Cheers,
