Seven to eight birders including myself got fine looks at the
Tropical Kingbird as late a 11:30 this morning (Sat.) & the bird
showed no sign of leaving. While we were there it spent some time on
the west side of Sand Point Way, in the trees near the B.-G. Bike
Trail, but it returned faithfully to the area around the boat
shelters by Building 11 as noted in earlier messages. It perched for
some time on a telephone pole by the buildings, as well as atop the
buildings themselves and nearby small trees. It was quite lovely in
the filtered sunshine.

Also, a tip re parking. One can easily park right along Sand Point
Way, without entering the park/base area with our car at all. The
informal parking area is north of the main gate, just before the
roadway visually leaves the lake shore heading north. There is plenty
of room for head-in parking, just be careful on re-entering the
S.P.W. traffic when you leave. The chain-link fence has a small
opening here to walk through, virtually AT the location of most of
the sightings. This is an easy & rewarding "twitch" for Seattle area
folks, so check it out!
