Hello All,
According to the San Diego Historical Society Florance Merriam Baily did not
hunt or shoot wild birds and was way ahead of her time in her belief that
more could be learned from taking notes during observations than by shooting
the wild bird. So her use of the term "Birding" in 1896 is just what she was
