Sunday November 19, 2006:
The Sunday Bird Walk to the Nanoose Estuary in Nanoose Bay was cancelled
due to the weather.
MALLARDS, BUFFLEHEADS, COMMON GOLDENEYE, GREAT BLUE HERON, CANADA GOOSE,
AMERICAN WIGEON, MEW GULL, GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL,were seen in the stormy seas
at the Nanoose Estuary. A BALD EAGLE and NORTHWESTERN CROWS was flying
over the water.

Friday November 17:
A MERLIN was spotted perched on a fence along Brierley Hill in the Departure
Bay
area of Nanaimo.
A SNOWY OWL and twenty LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were sighted at the Nanaimo
River Estuary, Holden Creek side in south Nanaimo.
A NORTHERN HARRIER was seen at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.

Thursday November 16:
A GLAUCOUS GULL was spotted at the Marshall Stevenson Santuary near the
Little Qualicum Estuary off Shorewood Drive north of Qualicum Beach.
60 BALD EAGLES were seen perched in the Fir Trees around the Little Qualicum
Estuary.
COMMON LOON, HORNED GREBE, PELAGIC CORMORANT, GREEN-WINGED TEAL,
MALLARD,HARLEQUIN DUCK, LONG-TAILED DUCK, BLACK SCOTER, SURF SCOTER,
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, COMMON GOLDENEYE, BUFFLEHEAD, RED-BREASTED MERGANGER,
COMMON MERGANGER, GREAT BLUE HERON, BALD EAGLE, BLACK TURNSTONE, BLACK
OYSTERCATCHER, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, MEW GULL, CALIFORNIA GULL,
GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL and BONAPARTS GULLS were seen off shore at the Little
Qualicum Estuary near Shorewood Drive and Kinkade Road north of Qualicum
Beach.

Sunday November 12:
A GREAT HORNED OWL was spotted being mobbed by STELLER'S JAYS; a
SHARP-SHINNED HAWK was visiting bird feeders, looking for lunch and a DOWNY
WOODPECKER was spotted at Peanut and Suet feeders on Mudge Island.
Two female and a male ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are visiting feeders in the 4100
block of Gulfview Drive in Nanaimo.

Saturday November 11:
A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen at the corner of Kinkade Road and Highway 19A
just north of Qualicum Beach.
