Tweets,

Today 4 of us started our walk at Nisqually under clear but cold skies. We
ended up with 6 of us battling rain to finish the walk. To make a long story
short it was not a pleasant day to be out.

Highlights were few as mostly the usual suspects were seen today. We did
have good views of an AMERICAN KESTRAL along the trail to McAllister Creek and
Dawn Bailey spotted a SHORT-EARED OWL the rest of us flushed but missed, also
on the way to McAllister Creek, but other than that not much of note.

We did see several RED-TAILED HAWKS and NORTHERN HARRIERS, and a
SHARP-SHINNED HAWK and a COOPER'S HAWK, but no other raptors.

Sparrows were abundant and we did see a small flock of PINE SISKINS out near
the ring dike. Nothing new in the way of waterfowl, but there were lots of
the common birds.

All told we saw 42 species with nothing new for the year.

Mammals seen were EASTERN GRAY SQUIRREL and HARBOR SEAL way up the Nisqually
River.

We will be back to Thursday for the walk next week and Eric Slagle will lead
as I will be out of town. I will return the week after. Until then......
