Hi Tweeters:
Our group from Rainier and Tahoma Audubons enjoyed nice weather today at
Nisqually and Olympia. We walked out to the Twin Barns at Nisqually to
observe from the overlook. On the way we saw 2 adults and 1 juv Bald Eagle.
A male N Harrier and several brown Harriers were flying around the fields.
>From the Twin Barns we could see a light-colored "Eastern" Red-tailed Hawk
with a white throat perched to the north. We searched for the White-tailed
Kite but missed it, and didn't have time to walk out to the ring dike trail
to look for it.
Back at the visitor's ctr, we could see a Peregrine Falcon in the top of a
tall tree on the east side of the visitor's ctr. pond.
Down in Olympia there was a female Long-tailed Duck out in the bay as we
looked north from North Point. At Capitol Lake looking both north and east
from Marathon Park, we saw two male Redheads in with hundreds of Ring-necked
and Lesser Scaup. There was also one female Surf Scoter on the lake.
