Dennis and Everyone else,

First, thank you Dennis for promptly catching the mistake!

And before get buried in howls, I meant Sharp-shinned Hawk, not Short-tailed. I have no idea where my head was when I wrote that..........maybe south Florida?

Rolan,

Given that Short-tailed Hawks endemic in the US to the Florida panhandle, I hope you got a picture of that bird, 'cause otherwise you may be in for some flack. :-)

Subject: [Tweeters] Some Surprizes at the Hundred Acre Woods

Greetings all,

Had a chance this AM to walk off some turkey dinner, so I spent a couple of pleasant hours at the Hundred Acre Woods (NE Lakewood, Pierce Co.) The biggest surprize was sighting a Northern Shrike. It's only the second one I've seen at the site in 2 1/2 years of checking. The earlier one was in April of 2005. Also making an appearance was a Lincoln's Sparrow, rarely seen at the Woods. A Short-tailed Hawk chased off a competing Kestrel and a River Otter popped in (very briefly when he spotted me).
Western Scrub Jays were thick this morning. As close as I could tell, there were between 25 and 30 Scrub Jays there today.

-Rolan
