This weather reminds me of Wisconsin, glad I brought my snow shovel with me
when I moved. It comes in handy keeping the deck cleared so I can feed the
birds.

With so many birds in a small area it's been interesting watching and
listening to the interactions of all the species. There has been a lot of
displaying and various sounds from the towhees and sparrows but nothing
resulting in bloodshed yet. So far I've counted 10 towhees, 5 fox sparrows,
8 song sparrows, a couple gold-crowned sparrows, juncoes too many to count
and 7 Steller's jays coming in to feed.

The over-wintering Anna's were chasing each other around the yard a little
while ago. I'm keeping two feeders active so one can warm up inside while
the other is outside getting cold. I'll be bringing them in tonight so they
don't freeze like one did last night.

Sunday after most of the snow had turned to rain and I was on the phone to a
birding friend in Wisconsin two tundra swans flew over the house. They
bring my yard list to 85 since I've been out here. The tundra swans
certainly looked right at home unlike the hummers.

Keep those feeders full and enjoy the action if you're stuck inside....
