Hello Tweets,

We enjoyed a very good day in our yard today during the frigid cold weather. We took many fantastic and superb photos of many of our birds from today and posted them onto our website. These photos can be accessed at the following link: http://www.pbase.com/godwit/yardbirds/ Today we had 20 species in our yard including 3-4 Varied Thrushes that came readily to our fresh supply of apples, a pair of Northern Flickers, a pair of Downy Woodpeckers, a pair of Townsend's Warblers, 15 Bushtits, 2 Bewick's Wrens, 1 Song Sparrow and 1 Spotted Towhee just to name a few of the species. Most of our birds also use our good supply of homemade peanut butter suet that we refill almost daily. Our resident population of Anna's Hummingbirds are a daily sight and are always enjoyable to watch, especially when we observe them breeding almost year-round.

Today we made sure to have both of our birdbaths free of ice and having a heater in them really helped since birds need water almost as much as food during the freezing temperatures.

Sincerely,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
