For the last week I have been on vacation, and I have heard and seen two Common Ravens every morning. One has a much deeper "Gronk" than the other; does anyone know if sex can be determined by pitch--i.e. are the males larger than the females as are most songbirds? Or are these birds large enough that they take after raptors and the females are larger?

Also, I want to report (okay, shout from my highest roof) that I had a FIVE WOODPECKER day yesterday: 2 Downey, 1 Hairy, 1 Pileated, 2 Northern Flickers, and 1 Red Breasted Sapsucker! The sapsucker and the Pileated were working the same tree (the Pileated nest tree).
