On Sunday I found a Lewis's Woodpecker near the south end of Lake Boren
right along Coal Creek Parkway in Newcastle, King County, WA. Beautiful
adult bird - first spotted in flight - non-undulating, all dark colored
wings and then well observed when it landed on an alder snag where it made
repeated fly-catching rounds. The rose colored breast and dark red face
were also seen well.

Around 3:00 PM I had a kettle of 19 TV's pass directly over my house,
pausing and circling briefly to catch updraft/thermals at the edge of the
Newcastle Golf Club. The headed due south right along the Cascade foothill/
Puget Lowland margin.
