I live over in north Mason County west of Belfair. I've heard a varied
thrush calling around 7am the past three mornings. Seems early but nice to
have them back. It's a nice change from juncoes and goldfinches and jays.
I'm at around 450 ft elevation. Also have been hearing mountain quail
calling in the morning for about 2 weeks now. But they are not coming out
to be seen, sorry.
