The annual Ridgefield BirdFest is being held on October 14 and 15. Space
is still available Friday evening and Saturday morning (early) for the
Sandhill Crane tours. You will be led to a closed part of the refuge
where you can watch the Sandhill Cranes come into or leave their roosting
area. Besides birding tours on the refuge on both the Carty and River "S"
Units, there are activities, art shows, raptor demonstrations and food
stalls in town. The Kiwa Trail will be open for walkers, the only chance
to explore this spot until next May. For details go to
