Sunday October 08, 2006:
AMERICAN WIGEON, COMMON MERGANGERS, MALLARDS, NORTHERN PINTAIL,
WHITE-WINGED, SURF and BLACK SCOTERS, MEW and GLACOUS-WINGED GULLS, a BALD
EAGLE, GREAT BLUE HERONS and SAVANNAH SPARROWS were seen at the Nanoose Bay
Estuary.

Saturday October 07:
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was spotted at Columbia Beach
A female ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, DARK-EYED JUNCOS and STELLER'S JAY are visiting
feeders in the 2300 block of Marlborough Drive in the Lynburn area of
Nanaimo.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are regularly visiting feeders in the morning and
evening each day in the 500 block of Vancouver Avenue in Nanaimo.

Friday October 06:
An unidentified ALBATROSS was seen at 12 noon today about 200
yards from a deck in Saltair, cruising north up the Stuart Channel. It had
the
typical large wingspan of an ALBATROSS, with a light grey body and darker
grey
wings.

Thursday October 05:
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS, PILEATED WOODPECKER, AMERICAN ROBIN,
DARK-EYED JUNCOS, STELLER'S JAYS and SONG SPARROWS were seen in a backyard
along Ellis Place next to Planta Park in Nanaimo.

Monday October 02:
DUNLINS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, PIGEON GUILLEMOT were sighted at the
Englishman River Estuary, Plummer Road side in Parksville.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, STELLER'S JAYS, NORTHERN FLICKERS, HOUSE
FINCHES,PURPLE FINCHES, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, CHESTNUT-BACKED
CHICKADEES, DARK-EYED JUNCOS, SPOTTED TOWHEES and a SHARP-SHINNED
HAWK were seen in a yard in the 2100 block of Lancashire Avenue in Nanaimo.

Sunday October 01,
BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and SAVANNAH SPARROWS were seen at French
Creek.
A RUDDY TURNSTONE was seen in with over twenty BLACK TURNSTONES, a
THAYERS GULL and EUROPEAN STARLINGS were spotted along the tide line at
Qualicum Beach.
BLACK, SURF and WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen off Kinkade Road north
of Qualicum Beach.
One WHIMBREL was spotted on the rocky beach off north Helliwell Park at
Hornby Island.

Saturday September 30:
One DOWNY WOODPECKER was seen along upper Bay Street in Nanaimo.
200 PACIFIC LOONS were seen off south Helliwell Park bluffs at Hornby
Island.
