Hello All,
MerryLynn and I had a great trip today with Ginger and Rodger Shoemake up to
Washtucna, Palouse Falls and Lyons Ferry Park . It started raining while we
were birding Washtucna and just kept it up, very wet! We located FOURTEEN
Eurasian Collared Doves which is the largest number we have ever seen in one
flock in Washington State. We also located a single Least Flycatcher in
Basset Park in the large tree over the cement benches and tables. This is
our late date for this species. We also located 4 Hermit Thrushes, 5 Varied
Thrushes and 35+ Ruby-crowned Kinglets along with 8 Golden-crowned Kinglets
and a single Brown Creeper in Basset Park. Also located a Fox Sparrow and a
Winter Wren in the blackberry patch to the south of Basset Park. Also one
Sharp-shinned Hawk. The rain was really coming down at Palouse Falls and at
Lyons Ferry so there was not much seen at those sites other than a bright
white partial albino Canada Goose. Fun day out in the field with great
company!
Later Mike
