While I didn't get out a lot over the weekend, it's clear the birds are
changing over - more juncos along with the chickadees, a few song sparrows,
ruby crowned kinglets, steller's jays and flickers.

The surprises were an Anna's hummingbird (I don't get a lot of them), and a
kingfisher (!?). It seems like the nearest snack for a kingfisher would be
miles away from my house in the Fairwood area of Renton. Really cool to see
one passing through. I hadn't realized before that they migrate, and it got
me to wondering - Do our local kingfishers stick around, or do all of them
migrate southward in the winter to be replaced by Canucks?
