Subject: [Tweeters] 4 letter codes

I have a suggestion.

Tweeters come and Tweeters go. This is not a stagnant listserve, but an arena where new birders or just new Tweeters are entering all of the time. A good thing, yes? Therefore, a past issue on Tweeters is never solved or put to rest. It will most likely arise again and again. Long time Tweeters know the taboo topics, such as cats and evolution. Do newbies know? And although there are rules and guidelines to follow, not everyone reads them. So issues arise and must be dealt with, like it or not.

Here's my suggestion. When someone uses a 4 letter code, someone will undoubtedly express her or his discontent. Might it be pointed out in a respectful, simple manner, using as few words as possible? Maybe that is all it will take. So possibly, that may be the end of it until such time as it happens again. And we all KNOW it will happen again. And again.

But if in fact, we'd rather turn it into a soap opera, well, that's what we'll get.

I won't plead for the last word on this subject, but that's all I have to say about it.

Sunday I saw a hybrid Western/Clark's Grebe on Sikes Lake near Nestle, close to Carnation in King County.
