It's hard to estimate the size of the bird except in relation to the
leaves--alders? There are some features that one can compare to Sibley's
Field Guide. Speckled on the back and the uneven tail-bands of the Juvenile
Northern Goshawk. Also if you look at the wingtips, the tail of the hawk in
the photo appears closer in length to the Goshawk. I'm voting for Goshawk.
