I spent saturday birding Kitsap County with Brad
Waggoner, and had a great day!
The un-official count was 84 species, not bad for
October.
Highlights -
Brad had a White-throated Sparrow 10 minutes before
meeting me, and we could NOT relocate it!! Arrgghh!
Lapland Longspur (very cooperative!) on Point
No-Point, and a Northern Harrier. We Also had a neat
Red-tailed hawk juvenile, that was almost entirely
black-and-white! Cool Bird!
Eared Grebe at Manzanita Bay
Eurasian Wigeon, Peregrine Falcon at Foulweather Bluff
Preserve
Foulweather bluff - We had a mixed flock of about 100
birds! Bushtits, RC and GC Kinglets, BC Chickadees,
Hutton's Vireo, And a Bewick's Wren and an Anna's
Hummingbird. It looked like the trees were dripping
birds! Crazy! And not one Warbler to be seen!!!

Only warbler species of the day were some
Yellow-rumped.

Only Shorebirds seen were Killdeer, 2 greater
Yellowlegs, and a fly-by flock of Sanderlings!

Lots of Sparrows around, lots of Grebes, all 3 Scoter
Species, lots of Bonaparte's Gulls, lots of Loons
(Common and Pacific)

And some GORGEOUS Wood Ducks at 'Johnsonville'.
