Hello All,
This morning while getting ready to teach a field ornithology course at
Walla Walla Community College and attempting to back the van out for a
fieldtrip, I had to wait as car after car and person after person swarmed
around and behind the van across the vast parking lot. after a time I was
able to get out of the parking lot and north to highway 12, only to have to
wait more as lines of people in dozens of cars bumped by. We finally made it
to HWY 12 and headed west out to look for raptors. This is when I noticed
four folks in with the class that did not belong in this van. I asked who
they were and the only response was that they had to go somewhere. As I
merged onto HWY 12 there was an endless line of vehicles and even folks
walking along the edge of the highway like some third world country. What on
earth is going on with all these people around here? So I turned on the
radio and that is when we heard the big news......Everything now made sense
as we listened to the report of a huge mile stone we had reached and that is
there are now 300+ million Americans!!!
Later Mike
