The following interesting birds have been reported in Spokane County today.

Oct 19, a SURF SCOTER is on West Medical Lake which is group year bird #241.
It is a female or immature male. It was in the center of the lake which is
difficult to view, but try the north side first. Also at West Medical Lake
were one BONAPARTE'S GULL, 3 COMMON LOONS, & 2 AMERICAN PIPITS.

We also watched a NORTHERN SHRIKE with a mouse. A NORTHERN HARRIER chased
the shrike until it dropped the mouse. The Harrier immediately got the
mouse. Maybe it should be called PARASITIC HARRIER.

Also, our 2 BLUE JAYS are still around although they seem to favor the
neighbor's dog food.
