Subject: [Tweeters] Curious George meets my pet rabbit

We have an old, rather decrepit dwarf Dutch rabbit which lives on the back
deck. George the Barred owl swooped down and landed on the railing of the
deck while I scrambled for the camera hoping to photo the kill. No such
luck, the rabbit lazily lopped under cover and George thoroughly examined
him, moving his head in that circular pattern that barred owls do.
Apparently the rabbit has no understanding of owls, or maybe he knows all
too well about owls, but he lopped out and began nibbling a carrot under the
intense focus of the owl. I was certain the owl would strike, but it never
did, it just watched. Finally it got annoyed I think with the flashes from
my camera and flew off to a good perch that overlooked the porch.
