Hello Tweeters again regarding the Bellevue Accipiter photos (attached
below).

The final vote was:

12 in favor of a Coopers (Gordon Orians, Tom Cotner,
Paul Bannick Guy McWethy, Simone Lupson, Carole Lauderback, Ruth/Patrick
Sullivan, Roger Orness, Dave Chelimer, Phil Hotlen, Ruth Taylor, and Bud
Anderson).

5 in favor of Northern Goshawk (Gene Gudger, Rolan
Nelson, Clovis Ache, Linda Phillips and John Hansen, the last is from St.
Joseph, MO).

There was one other vote for a Red-tailed Hawk by
Caren P. on the basis of the "V" on the back of the bird.

Many thanks for all of your input. The next time Howie Wilson
sees a similar challenging bird in his back yard, he will have it perch on a
yard stick!

Good birding,

Fran Wood

Hello Tweeters,

On October 2 my colleague, Howie Wilson, in east Bellevue (NE
6th St.) got the attached photos of an immature accipiter in his yard. He
thought from the size it might be a Northern Goshawk. Was it really a
Cooper's? Check the following:
