A small rabbit, maybe. I have never seen a rabbit as a prey item in a
Barred Owl nest. The largest prey I have seen is an adult wood rat. The
BNA account lists "mammals", but does not specify size other than to state
that "small mammals" make up the largest portion of mammals.

I frequently found the rear quarter of rabbits in Great Horned Owl nests.

I wouldn't think a rabbit would have to fear a Barred Owl (Jamie would know,
I'm sure). However, a few years back I did photograph a Great Horned flying
accross a meadow with a large jackrabbit clutched in it's talons at Crab
