Subject: [Tweeters] first Bufflehead of the season

Hi all:

Like clockwork, male and female buffs arrived on Pine Lake over the weekend.
We also had the season's first male hooded mergansers (the females are
common here year round because they successfully nest here) and one female common
merg.

Other fall waterfowl having been arriving over the past couple of weeks --
ringnecks, wigeons -- and to make things more interesting for everyone, the
river otters have also put in an appearance.

I love this time of year.

One male Bufflehead at the Ferdinand Street boat landing on Lake Washington
on Friday, Oct 20.

Plus two Golden-crowned Kinglets in full neon golden crowned display at
Pritchard Beach.

And a Common Loon in Andrew's Bay Sunday Oct 15.

Looking forward to the winter rain.
