Tweets - It was partly overcast and chilly, but not really cold this
morning. We had moments of sun (OK - maybe only one or two), and a breeze
picked up late in the morning, but we didn't get rain. I can't really
complain about the weather.

The birding was okay too - nothing spectacular. We got stunning views of
some fairly common species, and mediocre views of the "good" birds, which
made for an odd day. The very close look at an adult BALD EAGLE and great
views of WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW and KINGLETS really were the highlights.

Other highlights:

Merlin Flying around the weir and landed in a couple of
trees
Peregrine Falcon High flyby over grass soccer fields
Mourning Dove Two at the Compost Piles
Brown Creeper At least 3, scattered about the park
Varied Thrush Heard at the south end of the Dog Meadow
Am. Pipit Three flybys of single bird over grass soccer fields
Purple Finch Many eating seeds of Oregon Ash

I took one late look at the lake, since we didn't have much earlier. I had
many more WESTERN GREBE than we'd had during the regular walk, plus 2-3
RED-NECKED GREBE, new for 2006.

For the day, 56 species. For 2006, we're now at 147 species! That's one
more than we've ever had in a year. Will we get to 150???

BTW - the Rough-legged Hawk was bird #188 on the Marymoor list (since 1990).
We've added 5 birds in 2006, which is on par with recent years. At this
rate, Marymoor will top 200 species in 2-3 years.
