Hi Tweets:
Today our RAS birding class visited spots in Federal Way. As we approached
Lorene Lake in Federal Way, in the Twin Lakes area, about 6 American Pipits
flew over. That was odd, as we were in a place with golf courses and
houses. The lake had a number of ducks and Canada Geese, and one
Bufflehead. We traveled to Dumas Bay which is near Twin Lakes in Federal
Way. Near the Dumas Bay Park parking area we saw a Eurasian Wigeon in with
hundreds of American Wigeon on Dumas Bay Pond. Down on the sound at Dumas
Bay, out in the fog, we could see a few Black Scoters. There were a couple
of Dunlin up close with the Killdeer, and a few Mew Gulls. A Common Loon
was seen quite far out, and a little later we saw another Common Loon off of
Dash Point State Park. I was glad to see them, as we didn't see too many
loons in our area last winter.
Debra Russell was with us, and in the afternoon she visited Coulon Park in
Renton. She reported that the Greater White-fronted flock is back at
Coulon. She counted 20 Greater Wht-fronted geese there.
Yours, Carol Schulz
