First of all a big THANK YOU to all those who emailed me with help on
finding my target birds. Also, I have to say WOW what a beautiful place to
bird, or not bird for that matter.

Between Wednesday and Sunday I did a clockwise loop beginning and ending at
Olympia. I saw 105 species total, and I'll sum up to keep it short:

Rock Sandpiper: After much searching, I found 8 of them in a mixed group of
about 50 Black Turnstones and Surfbirds at the Westport Marina fishing pier.
I had to wait for high tide for them to show up. I could only find
turnstones at Ocean Shores.

Common Murre: 1 in the Westport Marina at low tide.

Snow Bunting: 2 near the Hoquiam airport.

9 gull species, including Black-legged Kittiwake and Thayer's at the mouth
of Kalaloch creek.

Harlequin Duck: Several locations but most notably between Sekiu and Neah
Bay, with those gorgeous sea stacks for a backdrop (and Bald Eagles perched
atop them).

Red-necked Grebe: several along Ediz Hook.

Gray-crowned Rosy Finch: 3 along the Hurricane Hill trail.

Eurasian Wigeon: 3 (or 1, 3 times) just offshore from the 3-crabs
restaurant.

I look forward to some more birding next weekend, probably closer to the
Seattle area.
Thanks again!
