Yesterday Laurie Ness and Warren Terrell found a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper at
the Yakima River Delta. When we heard the news today, we went to see if it
was still around. It was.

We saw it about midway down the dike road that runs along the delta at a
gravel "beach". The dike road is accessed just west of Bateman Island.
>From the beach we found the bird between there and the island directly
across from the beach. We can send more explicit directions to the delta if
needed.

It is a classic juvenile Sharp-tailed with the white supercilium broadening
toward the back of the head, bright rufous cap and the foreneck and upper
chest unstreaked, bright buff/orange.

This is the 5th record for the Yakima River Delta (previous dates 9/23/1975,
10/12/1986, 9/26/1990, 10/1/2004, 10/30/2006).
