Hi Kerri,

Today there was a smashed pumpkin on the side of the road in Toppenish when I was going to work and there was a hord of Starlings feeding on the pulp. Surprised me but I guess this delicacy is appreciated more than I though given your account of squash!

It's squash season! The squash have really big seeds most of us scoop and throw away. I thought of feeding them to the birds, going to great lengths to seperate the goo, rinsing, then drying them. Yesterday I just put goo and all in a bowl on the deck...and the Steller's jays simply went wild with delight. I think they liked them even better this way.
