Saturday September 02, 2006:
"RARE BIRD ALERT"
A SNOWY OWL was spotted flying across highway 19a near Country Club Mall in
Nanaimo.
STELLER'S JAYS were seen along Telegraph Terrace in Nanaimo.
A PACIFIC LOON was spotted off shore at San Pariel in Parksville.

Friday September 01:
A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen being mobbed by a pair of COMMON RAVENSat
Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay.
An OSPREY was seen at Neck Point Park in Nanaimo.

Wednesday August 30:
A large flock of BUSHTITS, STELLAR'S JAYS, DOWNY WOODPECKERS and CEDAR
WAXWINGS were seen just off Corfield Road in Parksville
Two HORNED GREBES, one PELAGIC COMORANT, 30 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 40 MALLARDS,
sixteen SURF and WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, four GREAT BLUE HERON. six KILLDEER
and four AMERICAN PIPITS were seen at Nanoose Bay just back of the Church
Camp.

Tuesday August 29:
Eighteen BAND-TAILED PIGEONS are visiting feeders in the 100 block of
Rainbow Crescent in Nanaimo.
A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was sighted at the Deerwood Retirement Community off
Biggs Road in Nanaimo.

Sunday August 27:
A BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was spotted at the Englishman River Estuary in
Parksville.
A FRANKLIN'S GULL and about 150 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen in the water
close to shore at Rathtravor Provincial Park.
The Sunday Bird Walk went to Buttertubs Marsh fifteen birders found the
following thirty-six species:

Friday August 25:
An OSPREY was seen perched high up in a tall Fir Tree just off Corfield Road
in Parksville.

The Sunday Bird Walk on September 10 will be going to Columbia Beach in
French Creek.
Meet at the Backyard Wildbird Store at 8:30 am or at the empty lot on
Admiral Tryon Blvd. at about 9:00 am.
Turn off highway 19a just north of the bridge over French Creek onto
Columbia go to the "T" intersection at Admiral Tryon Blvd. turn right for
about 100 meters and park in the empty lot on the left, near the water.
