I spent Monday from about 8 am to 3:30 PM looking for the mystery
heron/egret at the Ridgefield Refuge without luck. Refuge volunteer, Al
Larrabee was manning the visitor's booth and had a person stop at about 2
PM and ask how common Snowy Egrets are on the refuge as they thought that
they had seen one flying up the slough along the West side of the refuge.
So the bird may still be around. Birds that I had included were
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, 1 SANDERLING, 1 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, 1 BANK
SWALLOW and 2 AMERICAN PIPITS. As I drove home past the Steigerwald Lake
Refuge, near Washougal, the MUTE SWAN was still on the eastern lake where
it has been since Feb. 6th.
