Birders,
I have a little experience with juvenile Little Blue Herons and
have never noticed this amount of yellow on any of the birds I have seen.
On page 63 of the Sibley Guide to Birds there is a comparison drawing of
juvenile Little Blue Heron and Snowy Egret that shows them with an equal
amount of yellow. This may have been done just to have one focus on
structural details, but that could have been done with a colorless line
drawing. I'm loving all of the information coming out of this discussion,
what a great learning experience.
