i agree. the binoculars have a separate lens between the oculars which may or may not be the same power as the binoculars. some of them are not aimed to well, either. that's why i suggest the kowa or something like it, because you know what you see is what you will get because the camera is an slr mounted atop the scope. when you depress the shutter, a mirror drops down and directs the image onto the digital sensor. i see there is a brand called 'gallileo' which is much cheaper than the kowa -- between three fifty and four fifty for a 60 or 80 mm (15-45 or 20-60x). i have no idea what the quality of the gallileo is. the howa is very nice stuff, but a bit short in the pixel dept. (3.1 megs or so).
