Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 7. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 2 a female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen in Klamath Falls.

Early PIPITS are now arriving in Western Oregon. Possible ELEGANT TERNS were
reported during the week near Florence, and at Gearhart. Large numbers of
HEERMANN?S GULLS are now gathering at Seaside.

On August 30 a RUFF was among the many shorebirds at Bandon. Two RUFFS and
six BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were on the North Spit of Coos Bay September 1.
Two RUFFS were at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River August 30. On
September 2 an AVOCET was at Rock Creek, north of Florence. On August 31 a
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, a WILLET, a WHIMBREL, and a MARBLED GODWIT were at
the mouth of the Necanicum River in Seaside. On September 4 seven RUDDY
TURNSTONES and three RED KNOTS were on Clatsop Beach. The next day four
COMMON TERNS were on the beach. An early FOX SPARROW was seen September 4 at
Seaside.

A SNOWY EGRET has been seen during the week at Ridgefield NWR. A SANDERLING
was there September 4. On September 2 a GREAT GRAY OWL was seen in the Mt.
Hood area near the junction of Hwys 26 and 35. Two MARBLE GODWITS have been
seen during the week at Baskett Slough NWR. An early LINCOLN?S SPARROW was
seen September 2 at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and a
RUFF have been seen at Fern Ridge during the week.

On August 30 over 150 BLACK ROSY-FINCHES were at the East Rim of Steens
Mountain. The road to the rim is now open.
