Hi, Tweets

Just a heads up for those of your who are interested. A kettle of 20
turkey vultures was seen over the Elwha last Friday. That's in the
area where I usually do my migration monitoring project, so they are
probably early migrants.

As a refresher, last year we had 2,152 vultures pass by the Salt
Creek site in a three-week period (the third highest count). Pretty
exciting to see several hundred of these large birds come in off the
water - and almost always in "nice" weather.

So, hope you will look up and report any kettles seen in the next few
weeks. I won't be at Salt Creek this season, but hope to catch some
of the migrants over our area. Last year several people saw kettles
of a hundred or so over Seattle and the surrounding area.

If anyone would like a copy of the Excel doc listing the vultures and
all other raptors seen from the Salt Creek site since 1992, just let me know.

Look up!

Cheers, Diann
